911 outages reported in several U.S. states

911 outages are being reported in several parts of the United States, affecting emergency calls in areas of Washington, Arizona, Texas and Iowa, according to local officials.

It was not immediately clear what was causing the disruptions or whether the outages were connected. Officials in multiple jurisdictions urged residents to use alternate phone numbers if they are unable to reach 911.

In Arizona, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office said its 911 Communications Center is being affected by a statewide 911 network outage. Residents needing emergency response were told to call the sheriff’s department’s non-emergency line at 520-351-4900.

In Whatcom County, Washington, officials said the county is experiencing a disruption to 911 services. Residents who are unable to reach help by dialing 911 were told to call 360-676-6911 to reach the dispatch center directly.

In Texas, police in Allen said the department is experiencing an outage with its 911 system. Residents needing police, fire or EMS assistance were told to call the city’s non-emergency dispatch line at 214-509-4321.

Outages are also affecting parts of Iowa. Des Moines police said public safety communication centers in central Iowa are reporting that wireless 911 calls are failing to connect, and residents whose 911 calls fail were told to call 515-283-4811 for emergency police, fire or mental health services.

The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office also reported a multi-county 911 outage and told residents to use its administrative line, 319-642-7307, option 1, until the issue is resolved.

No further details were immediately available about the scope of the outages or when normal 911 service could be restored.
